Does any one else think that professional athletes should get paid less then what they are making now? Also, do you think people should get paid more for the things they can and what they have learned. I think they should due to the fact that I mean who in the world needs that much money to play sports. Sports are supposed to be about having fun like back in high school and college. I know they work hard and stuff like that and it is there living and they are just simply entertaining. But think of the teachers and people who got them there should be getting paid well too. I guess what I am really trying to say here is that people should get paid more for what their actual job is. For example, the government wants to put a ceiling on doctors I think that is just wrong. That is because think of how much work they actually put in to get to where they are not to mention they are saving peoples lives. Also other people that save lives such as firefighters are getting an average of $50,000 dollars a year. That is a load of crap because they are putting their lives on the line to save other peoples. Back to what I said about the teachers they shape the minds of people and guide them the right way and teach them valuable information and they hardly get paid for it at all. So, basically I’m just trying to get people to realize that our government needs to look into making laws or something to get money to the people who actually deserve it.

As a sports fan I would agree with you that sports figures make way too much money, more than I can ever hope to make. But from a business stand point athletes deserve what they make. Using Alex Rodriguez as an example, he makes an average of $27.5 million a year. On average, he brings in $30 million a year in revenue to the Yankees. So from a business standpoint, every year he makes his team $2.5 million. So while to you and me, athletes are getting paid outrageous amounts of money, their employers are still making a profit on them. Sports is a business. But I would like to see professions like firefighters be better compensated for what they do.

I, too, think it's ridiculous that athletes get paid what they do, especially in relation to teachers as you mentioned. But then again, money reflects what we as a society think is important. What does that say about America?
